Frequently Asked Questions



"How far in advance do I need to book?"

Weekend appointments and evening appointments book up quickly, especially close to the Holidays and in the summer.  Please check in as soon as you know you would like to book a session to get our availability.  We typically post our openings to our Facebook page 2-3 months in advance for bookings.


What should I wear to my photo session?"

I tell everyone to try to avoid being "too matching" for a session.  Your photo will look dated if you all come in wearing the same thing.  It's always nice to pick 2 base colors for everyone to wear, plus a punch of color.  An example of this would be navy blue (dark wash blue jeans) and gray.  Different patterns (as long as they are small) can also work in the equation.  The punch of color could be yellow.  Yellow goes great with gray and navy.  Women could wear accessories or jewelry, or even a scarf in the punch of color.  Keeping it simple is key, without matching too much.



"Do you have a cancellation policy?"

I understand things come up.  Kids get sick, you have to work late, your mother-in-law comes to town; I get it!  If you need to reschedule, please give us as much notice as possible.  I wait for 20 minutes at on-location sessions.  If you do not show up within that 20 minutes, I leave.  If I have cell phone service, I will make every effort to contact you.  Many of the locations we use for on-location sessions do not have cell phone service.  If you see you are going to be late, please call as soon as you can to let us know.  No shows are charged a fee of $25 and are not allowed to schedule another session until the fee is paid.   This applies to studio session no-shows and photo day no-shows as well.  We typically schedule sessions back to back, so please be mindful of your scheduled time.



"What happens after my session?"

After your session, I will edit your session, upload a couple of sneak peeks to Facebook if you allow, then upload them all to a password protected gallery here on the site.  I will contact you with your access code and from there you will download your images.  If you would like to order prints from our lab (we strongly encourage our professional lab!), you will do so after you get your code.



"How do I know which photographer will be taking my photos?"

Kari V Photography currently has 2 photographers, Kari and Kristin.  If you have a preferred photographer, please let us know when booking.



"Can I also order prints from my session?"

Absolutely!  We offer many different sizes of prints and canvases, along with custom framed photos and many specialty items. You may order directly from the website after you receive your website code, or place your order directly through us.



"How many 'poses' do I get with each session?"

We do not have a "pose" limit at Kari V.  Our sessions are based on time rather than poses.  Our typical amount of edited images is listed under each session type in the "Prices" tab.



"Do you do photos for sports teams?"

We no longer offer sports photography.  We are a portraiture photography studio.


"Do you offer wedding photography packages?"

We are shooting weddings in 2016 (we are currently booked up) and are not taking wedding bookings for 2017.


"Do you offer birthday party photography?"

We are no longer accepting appointments for birthday party photography.


"Do you do photography fundraisers?"

Yes!  We offer voucher fundraisers where you collect funds for print purchases.  Please contact us if your organization would like to do a fundraiser.
